State Authorization and Reciprocity Agreement (SARA)

The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) is an agreement among member states, districts, and territories in the United States, which establishes comparable national standards for interstate offering of postsecondary distance education courses and programs. It is intended to simplify the process of taking hybrid/online courses for credit offered by postsecondary institutions based in another state. West Virginia Wesleyan College is pending approval from the State of West Virginia to participate in NC-SARA. At this time, 49 of the 50 United States are SARA members.

West Virginia Wesleyan College offers hybrid online programs that lead to professional certification in the State of West Virginia and cannot confirm if programs meet the prerequisites for professional certification outside the State of West Virginia. Students will need to contact the state licensing board relative to their program of study in the state in which they seek certification for further information.
